Midwest Air Wing By-Laws 2025 -Draft-

Each calendar year the elected board reviews the club By-Laws to ensure that the information is current and accurate to meet the needs of the board, the club members, and club as a whole. The proposed changes for 2025 will be presented at the February 6th club meeting. After the February club meeting an electronic survey will be sent to club members to vote on the changes. Please note the following when voting.

  • Club members will have the option to select the By-Laws in its entirety as written. One check mark and you are done.
  • Or club members can choose to accept/reject specific changes. Select what should be included or rejected. Takes more time to complete but offers more control.
  • Or club members can reject all changes, and the By-Laws stay as they are. Probably a wasted vote and not a very productive option, but at least the option is there.

The results of the voting will be presented the March club meeting.

Please submit (email) your requested changes to midwestairwingrc@gmail.com or in the comments section at the bottom of this web page. Comments are moderated and may take 24 to 48 hours to be reviewed and displayed.

  1. It looks like a good update.

Given not all members agree on and support club sponsored flying events, I think we should have some framework around club events.
    – Maximum number of events allowed per year.
    – Timing between events (for instance, a minimum of 6 week spacing between events).
    – How many consectutive days an event can be held (for instance, not more than 2 consecutive days).
    – Consideration to club members that are not flying in the event but would like to fly. (Meaning all events are scheduled to allow for open flying for club members. For instance, an event begins at 9:00am. The event can run until 4:00pm at which time the field is available for non-participating club members to fly. Open flying begins at 4:00pm.)

  2. Club members should begin evaluating a change in culture where events are considered optional to viewing events as being a mandatory source of revenue that needs to be managed not only by the club VP but a committee that sets specific revenue goals for the events to achieve. This is not a new concept for MAW, but a return to how the club was previously operated to offset the club members portion of the cost.
