Time: any time Tuesday before midnight until any time Wednesday morning. We take-off on Tuesday at 23:55 and land a year later on Wednesday 00:05! Chili and soup available in the Pilot’s Lounge to keep you warm.

January 1st (Wednesday) – Annual Frozen Finger Season Opener!

- Please come out and join the Midwest Air Wing RC club for our annual Frozen Finger season opener.
- Earn the bragging rights as the first club member to fly in 2024!
- Event phot taken at 12:00. Awards handed out at 13:00.
- Hot chocolate, coffee, and soda available.
- Frozen Flyer contest runs from 10:00 to 13:00. Open to all AMA members. Compete for the greatest number of minutes flown. 1st $25, 2nd $10, 3rd $5. Stay warm in our heated Pilots Lounge and Weather Room.
- RedwingRC will be at the event with Hats, Jackets, and Hoodies for sale.
The Frozen Flyer contest consist of each pilot individually accumulating the maximum flight time between 10:00 and 13:00. An appointed timekeeper will record take-off and landing times. In the event of a tie the winner will be determined by the pilot that accumulated the most time in the fewest number of flights.
NOTE: The club reserves the right to disqualify any event participant if the participant endangers himself or others by not providing adequate protection against the cold or is not properly dressed for weather conditions. For example, insufficient clothing to protect against hyperthermia. Remember, flight time is cumulative to allow adequate time between flights to warm fingers, toes, nose, and ears.
* The voucher provided at the Frozen Finger event is non-transferable, not redeemable for cash or prizes, may only be used for the Fall Turkey Shoot. In order to qualify for the voucher participant must be in physical possession of a current AMA card, complete the event registration form, and fly a minimum of one uninterrupted flight lasting not less than two minutes in duration. Qualifying flight must occur the event. (10:00 and end prior to 13:00). No balloons. Wired or Wireless trainer mode allowed IF the pilot is currently receiving instruction from a MAW IP. If the UAS touches a land-based object prior to the completion of the 2-minute flight the timer is reset, and the effort must be repeated.
